TIPS FOR HOLIDAY TIPPING
Ensuring a proper ‘thank you’ without overspending.
Customary gratuities for various services during the holidays:
CHILD CARE
1.	Babysitter: 1 evening’s pay + small gift from child
2.	Au Pair: 1 week’s pay or a gift + small gift from child
3.	Nanny: 1 week to 1 month of pay + small gift from child
4.	Daycare providers: $25-$70 each + small gift from child
5.	Child’s Teachers: Gift (if allowable; check school policy)
HOME AND CAR CARE
1.	Housekeeper: 1 week’s pay or more (depending on length of service)
2.	Trash Collectors: $15-$20 each
3.	Parking Attendants: $10-$35 or up to half a month’s rate
4.	Gardener: $20-$50
5.	Handyman: $20-$50 if you see them regularly
6.	Pool/Lawn Maintenance: Gift card or cash gift equal to 1 week’s pay.
APARTMENT/CONDO SERVICE
1.	Landlord: cash gift or gift card up to $50, depending on service.
2.	Doormen: $20-$100 each (more service=bigger tip)
3.	Superintendent/Custodian: $30-$100 (more if there’s minimal staff)
4.	Porters/Handymen: $10-$50 each
5.	Elevator operators: $15-$40 each
PERSONAL CARE
1.	Hairdresser: Cost of 1 cut (or $20-$100) if you go frequently + small gift.
2.	Manicurist: Cost of 1 session (or $10-$50) + small gift.
3.	Personal Trainer: $25 (or cost of 1 session).
4.	Massage Therapist: %50-$100 or cost of 1 session.
HEALTH CARE
1.	Private Nurse or PT: Gift, not cash, if you see them regularly.
2.	Nursing Home Staff: Gift, not cash for close workers, plus shareable team gift (check company policy first).
PET CARE
1.	Dog Groomer: Small gift + ¼ to ½ the cost of 1 session.
2.	Dog Walker: Cost of 1 session or up to 1 week’s pay.
DELIVERY SERVICES
1.	U.S. Mail Carrier: Gifts under $20 (USPS prohibits cash tips_
2.	UPS: $15 (if you get regular deliveries)
3.	Fedex: Gift up to $25 (if you get regular deliveries)
4.	Paper Carrier: $15-$25 for daily delivery, $5-$15 for weekend delivery.
AT THE OFFICE
1.	Assistant: Gift or gift card worth at least $50; avoid personal gifts like perfume and clothing.
