Father’s Day is a week from Saturday. But already, retail researchers are quizzing shoppers about what they plan to buy. The good news is that a lot of family members don’t plan to buy their fathers anything.
Why is that good news? Because the bad news is, when they do buy something, it usually stinks.
Just yesterday, Debt.com’s editor mentioned in his weekly column that a poll of dads revealed nearly a third of these men had been flat-out forgotten on Father’s Day. And those who hadn’t? Well, 57 percent didn’t like the gifts they got.
I felt awful when I read that, because I remember when I was a kid, I bought my dad colored Fruit of the Loom underwear — every Father’s Day for a decade. But he always acted grateful. Thanks, Dad!
