Show us your boo, we’ll give you some booty.
It’s the time of year when ghouls and goblins come together for Halloween revelry, and Americans blow billions of dollars on costumes they’ll wear probably just once.
That’s not an overstatement — consumers will spend $1 billion on children’s costumes, $1.4 billion on adult costumes, and $350 million on pet costumes, we wrote earlier this month. The top themes are expected to be Disney’s Frozen and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The contest: create a DIY Halloween costume
We don’t want you to be a broke statistic. We want you to be a creative winner. So instead of lining the pockets of those Halloween stores, put together your best homemade costume for $50 or less and show it off.
The costume can be for you, a family member, or a pet. Post it and/or how you made it on our Facebook page or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll feature the best next week, giving procrastinators plenty of time to steal your awesome ideas. The deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19.
A $50 Amazon gift card.
Last week’s winner
We got no entries last week, so hopefully you like Halloween better than National Pasta Month.
